The term “sleeper” is thrown around a lot. It can be used in a variety of different ways to describe anything from a grocery getter to a grudge car and it’s tough to pin down the essence of the concept.
Today, we bring you our ideal representation of what we think that a sleeper is in material form. Meet the Volvo Amazon. This beast of a station wagon rolled off of the assembly line in 1967 and even to current day, we don’t think that anyone would expect it to roll out the way that this particular version does.
This time, power comes from a 2.8-liter turbocharged inline-six made by Volvo and thanks to some extreme mods, the car makes right in the ballpark of 799hp and 723 lb-ft when running on E85 fuel.
